Who is Lynn Perez-Hewitt?

I was born in Rockford, Illinois and attended grade school, high school and university all in Illinois. In 1977 I traveled to Colorado to live and work and have been a Westerner ever since. My parents became part-year Arizona residents in 1996 when they purchased a home in SaddleBrooke, not far from Oracle.

I am 53 years old, and work as a consultant to nonprofit organizations in fund raising and strategic planning.

Civic/community experience

My professional career includes such disparate industries as health care and financial service and I remain a member of several professional associations:

• Public Relations Society of America (PRSA): member 2004, Board Treasurer 2005. 2006.
• Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP): member 2003-04, 2005-06.
• Greater Tucson Chapter, American Marketing Association: President 1995-1996, Board member 1993-2001, 2005-2006

I have been a member of the Information Technology Association of Southern Arizona (ITASA) and a board member of the Health and Wellness Marketing Association.

I have been a community volunteer with many nonprofit organizations.

Credentials

I graduated from Bradley University with a Bachelor of Science degree, Magna Cum Laude in December 1974. At that time I was certified to teach K-12 English literature, Speech and Theater in Illinois. The spring of 1975 was a lean time for new teaching opportunities and I went instead into the Hospital public relations field.

After years of building a career with a public service theme I return to school and graduated in May 2006 from Northern Arizona University with a Masters degree in Educational Leadership. I am continuing my studies and am applying in December for the doctoral program in Educational Leadership.
